Elevate your project with natural stone

Natural stone is arguably one of the most diverse and sought after building materials in the world. This is partly because there is an infinite variety of textures, colours and grains. Since there are various surface treatments and finishes such as sandblasting, flaming, brushing, laser engraving and polishing available, the stone’s appearance can be altered to achieve the desired look and feel and it can be integrated into the most diverse styles.

The special charm of natural stone, however, lies in the fact that it is not a man-made mass product, but instead a unique material with each stone having unpredictable colour variations and irregularities.

There are many types of natural stone, each with its own special characteristics. Therefore, it is important to choose the right stone for your project.

Finishes

  • Book matching

The process of book matching is designed to create a mirror effect with consecutive slabs of natural stone. As the name suggests, book matching is done by cutting slabs and placing successive pieces of stone next to one another so that they resemble the pages of an open book.

  • Flaming

The surface of the stone is treated with a flame that is several hundred degrees hot. This creates a relatively even, roughened structure. In principle, all hard stones (granites and basalts) can be flamed. This surface treatment is often used in combination with brushed natural stones.

  • Fluted

Fluted tile is a type of stone finishing that features shallow, curved grooves or ridges on its surface, creating very tactile features. These grooves can be arranged in a variety of patterns, including straight, diagonal, herringbone, or basket weave.

  • Mosaic

Natural stone mosaic is made from pieces of real stone such as marble, slate, travertine, limestone and quartzite. The pieces are cut into small shapes and joined together with a strong adhesive to create a variety of decorative patterns.

  • Polishing

Natural stone can be polished, ground or brushed to achieve various optical effects, such as high-gloss, which shows off the depth of marble and granite particularly well and radiates pure elegance, or a very fine, smooth and silky-matte surface that gives the stone a warm, natural and supple feeling.

  • Sand blasting

Natural stone with a sandblasted surface can be roughened as well as finely finished. The respective finishing method depends on the material with which the natural stone slabs are sandblasted. A roughened surface is more slip-resistant and therefore well suited for bathrooms and wet areas.

  • Surface protection

Natural stone may seem like an indestructible material but depending on the type of stone and its surroundings, it can actually be rather fragile. We use various agents to seal and protect the stone from things like wine and oil stains, moisture, dust and weather. The right treatment will ensure your natural stone is well protected and maintains its beauty.
